Engineering

Introduction to Applied Reservoir Engineering
(Five days)

This course covers a wide range of topics of interest to junior to mid-level reservoir engineers. It covers methods of reserve estimation, the physics of fluid flow in porous media, well and reservoir performance, and various types of improved recovery processes.

Introduction to Production Operations (Two days)

Production operations represents one of the more complex tasks facing operations and engineering teams in the industry today. It requires close collaboration across several subsurface and surface disciplines, as well as a unified methodology and metrics for implementation. We present not only how each individual discipline contributes to the optimal delivery of an operating petroleum asset but also how the system as a whole can be improved.

Knowledge Management

Introduction to Project Management in the Oil and Gas Industry (Three days)

This seminar addresses key elements of managing projects including selection criteria; project risk assessments; characteristics of major project stages; project organization structures; use of management techniques such as scoping, work breakdown structures, task networks, budgeting, estimating, scheduling, and critical path analysis; managing resource allocation and the triple constraints of scope, budget, and schedule; project evaluation and reporting; negotiations and partnering techniques; conflict resolution; and project termination and evaluation. Team exercises will be used to help participants internalize project management techniques.
