Intergen: Rebuilt reservoir model accurately assesses gas storage field
Client : Intergen
Location: Onshore Texas
Objective: Provide tools to evaluate injection and withdrawal scenarios and to determine pad gas volume
In 2001, InterGen, a gas storage and transportation company operating a gas storage business from the depleted West Clear Lake Field, asked Knowledge Reservoir to create a new reservoir simulation model that would help InterGen reassess gas deliverability and pad gas volumes. An existing model from 1993 had ceased to provide accurate information after operating standards were changed to withdraw significantly higher volumes of gas in 1997 to 2001.
Knowledge Reservoir converted the model to the clients modeling software, determined it needed to be rebuilt, and rebuilt it (including the addition of a previously omitted well)—quickly and within the original budget for updating the existing model. Knowledge Reservoir was then able to run production and injection scenarios supporting the client’s hedging operations and evaluating the uncertainty in the results.
Knowledge Reservoir provided engineering support for ongoing operations until the field was sold. The current owner continues to use the reservoir model and deliverability curves created by Knowledge Reservoir.
